EMDR

EMDR means:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
. This technique originally used back and forth eye movements - comparable to the natural eye movements in REM-sleep, the part of the sleep in which we dream - to reprocess and resolve traumatic memories. Nowadays it often makes use of alternating click-sounds through a headphone. Through this your mind is stimulated to use both halves of the brain and in that way the traumatic memory gets 'unstuck'.EMDR is therefore mostly used when someone has experienced something traumatic, which keeps bothering him or her.
